Use of Is / Am / Are



* Use is when the subject is a singular noun or a third person singular pronoun.

Examples:

Sonia is my best friend.

She is a clever girl.

She is writing a letter.

It is a dog.

* Use am when the subject is the first person pronoun I.

Examples:

am a teacher.

am working on my computer.

* Use are when the subject is a plural noun or a plural pronoun (e.g. we, you, they).

Examples:

You are wonderful.

They are waiting for us.

Girls are playing in the garden.

We are reading the books.

The students are learning their lessons.

It's sunny today, but it isn't warm.
